First volume of the Archive series of live Dylan's 1965, 1966, and 1967 (recorded 1965-1968) albums, mixing Dylan-on-stage - Rough and tumble, blue collar, New York City Times Square, with conversations and comments interspersed here and there with music, and drinking and party atmosphere in the background. The interview segments offer an intimate look at the singer/songwriter, the impact he has brought to the American music scene, and how, like so many of his fans, those who experienced his music for the first time from his 1965 basement recording in the green room of the Cafe Au-Go Go were never the same again. In the rough and tumble atmosphere, Dylan shared some of the story behind his songs (“All I think about is death”; “I’m getting off the road and going home”; “I’m a guiding force”) and some of what he was feeling (“I’m tired of waking up; I’m tired of thinking, it’s not much I need to take”; “I needed to crawl back and relax”). Then he started taking some questions in response to them (“Why don’t you take us on a musical trip?”; “I’m tired. I’m tired of figuring out.”) and it’s almost like you could tell from the way he carried himself and moved (“I don’t try to be hard to understand.”) it is those moments of the evening when he seemed to be in his own company and felt comfortable that had the most impact. What follows are the walking, talking, singing interviews and conversations he made on his tour. Not labeled as Sessions, but still sets of recordings from the same evening, and sometimes even from the same song. You have to dig for them, and each screening is somewhat different. The music is the primary thing and it’s pretty good, the music being different songs coming out of different moments in the same show. The best thing is that you feel the music is what matters more than the words and that he was sharing the special moments inside of it. d2c66b5586
