In most businesses, the marketing role was embedded in the functions of sales, product development, service, customer relations, R&D and production. The core of marketing was usually to perform a competitive analysis, design a marketing plan, implement the plan, measure the results, and make changes. In other words, the 'idea' function was usually the most important of marketing's activities.
The marketing department is a vital, integral part of the organization. It provides a link between the customer and the business. A strong marketing function is there to drive the business forward, to add value, and to exploit new and emerging opportunities. If the marketing function is removed from the business, then the business will lack leadership.
There are three main challenges for the marketing function. The first is to generate ideas, and to turn those ideas into realities. The second is to find new ideas and opportunities. The third is to manage and exploit marketing change.
In the best cases, managers add another, second, feedback loop to the one in Figure 2, as shown in Figure 3. They find ingenious solutions to value creation problems, which are based on a creative tension between financial rigour and the marketing imagination
Worst of all, Postal 2: Eternal Damnation is a total conversion for Postal 2. In other words, it's a new game. Resurrection Studios, the company behind Postal 2, has reworked every level from scratch to make it fit the cutesy shooter-meets-tongue-in-cheek-humor style of the sequel's story. It's a daunting task, and one that requires a great deal of time and dedication. From a player's standpoint, it might be the worst thing that could happen to a game. It's the same exact game with the same exact levels, just with different art, new menus, and new menus. There's no reason to check this one out, no matter how much the developers at Resurrection Studios might beg you to. If the developers of Postal 2: Eternal Damnation are only interested in making more money, then they have their priorities completely backwards. Perhaps they're simply catering to the vocal minority of gamers who preferred the first, less-offensive version of the game, or who think that a free game should be free of any kind of restrictions.
