Queens of the Stone Age is an American alternative rock band that formed in 1996 in San Diego, California. The band is fronted by rock guitarist and singer Josh Homme, and frequently collaborates with bassist Dean Fertita and drummer Troy Van Leeuwen.[13] The group has released five studio albums, the first four of which were co-released by Homme's A&M Records.[14] After the release of Songs for the Deaf (1999), they signed with Interscope Records and released their self-titled album, Queens of the Stone Age (2002). Michael Shuman has played guitar and keyboards since 2005. Lukas Rossi has been the band's touring and studio drummer since 2009.
